Thanks...........
Heartfelt Thanks!
We would like to thank you-all (southern speak for family) for all the prayers! We are doing ok. Keith is recovering from the surgery and we are keeping our eyes on the Lord! Tuesday we meet with the oncologist and hopefully will hopefully formulate a great plan for treatment. We are grateful for all the love and prayers we have felt in the past few weeks. We cannot tell you how much you-all mean to us! What a wonderful family we have.
We will keep you posted.
Love,
Connie & Keith

Happy Thanksgiving
Okay, dear family, here is the situation, and I want honest opinions.
Gavin and Riley got the MMR vaccine on Nov. 11. Saturday, Gavin spiked a fever for a few hours, and yesterday he broke out in a rash. The doctor said he likely has either measles or rubella. Because he got it from the vaccine and not from a direct full exposure, it is unlikely that he is contagious according to the CDC and our doctor, but there is the remote possibility that he could pass it on.
Both measles and rubella are usually very mild illnesses with a low fever and rash. Gavin is fussy but otherwise fine. BUT rubella in particular can be dangerous if a non-immune pregnant woman gets it. I don't think any of us are currently pregnant unless I just haven't heard yet (or someone hasn't announced yet.) We also have several babies in the family who are too young to have gotten immunized. If anyone does not feel comfortable being around Gavin, let me know so we can plan to stay home on Thursday (or Brett and Gavin can stay home while the girls and I come, if that's an acceptable compromise.) You can e-mail me at kingtaran@yahoo.com if you don't want to answer here. As much as I want to see everyone, I don't want to put anyone at risk.

Update on my kids
We had a monster appointment for all four kids last week with our primary doctor. Ethne and Catie have started growing again, so Dr. C feels okay with backing off the testing for now. We still have no answers for why they were losing weight. I am glad we did the testing, but I'm also okay with backing off. The girls are happy, healthy, and meeting milestones. As long as they keep growing, I'm not worried about them being small. It's only when they stopped gaining and started losing that we wanted some tests done.
Thanks, everyone, for the prayers and support while we were testing the girls. Here's hoping they keep gaining.
If you want more details, you can check out my personal blog.

Prayer Request
I don't know how many of you keep up with my blog, but I wanted to update you with a prayer request. Ethne and Catie are undergoing some testing after losing weight in the last few months. Ethne's test results are improving, but the doctor thinks Catie may have Type I Diabetes. You can read more on my blog here. We'd appreciate prayers as we confirm the diagnosis and come up with a treatment plan.
Very Busy
I hope everyone is doing fine. Sue is coming off a weekend where she had five events. She had weddings at the Pere Marquette, the Waterhouse, the Par-A-Dice, Stoney Creek Inn, and Washington Five Points. I don't know how she does it. I have been busy shooting senior pictures and am booked every Saturday and Sunday until the middle of September. Since I don't have my own web site yet, I have been giving the kids a few low resolution files with my logo on them for their facebook page. It seems every time I do I get a call in the next few days for another booking. I am going to use the family blog to test if I can post a video slide show. I hope this works. These images are from my photo shoot this past Sunday.

Hi Everyone!
I am excited that I finally found a perfect way to garden! My neice Jodi and two of her friends have a garden this summer for their FFA project. They plant, weed ,water ,pick and e-mail me what produce they have ready. I e-mail them back with what I want and they bring it to me! It doesn't get any better than that. Also, I saw some friends were selling sweet corn along the road, so I pulled up and one of their granddaughters ran up to my car, asked me how much I wanted, went and got it, put it in my car and took my money. I didn't even have to get out of the car. That night we had BBQ, fresh sweet corn and fresh green beans. It was great. I could garden this way for a long time!
Hope everyone is having a great summer. Duane is getting ready to leave for Canada fishing. He leaves Wed. night and will be back the following Sat. Kayla and I are going out to Iowa City Sunday afternoon as she has a campus visit on Monday to see if they have a program that will allow her to get her degree. She will finish her current program in Dec. but will get a certificate not a degree.
Crystal is doing great at the shop. I'm still helping her but I'm not going out as much. I love it. Of course the grandkids are wonderful and we are looking forward to Beth and Ty's little girl at the end of August.

Eileen

My Babies are One!
One year ago today, our family was doubly blessed with the arrival of Riley Faith and Gavin Arthur. Today they're happy, healthy children with very different personalities, and yet they're the best of friends.
It has been a tough year, and yet it's also been a fantastic year. I can't imagine life without my sweet babies. We're finally starting to emerge from the fog and live life a bit more.
I'm proud to say I'm still nursing. I didn't make it this far with the other girls for various reasons, which I regret. But this time I'm letting them drive the bus. We'll see how long this ride lasts.
We had their family party on Monday. Here are some pics.

Riley at 1 year

Gavin at 1 year

Then...

...and now

Gavin enjoying his cupcake

Riley enjoying hers

Cupcakes are awesome!

Washington 5k

I took this photo right after the start of the Washington 5k this past Saturday. Brett and I shot the event for the Washington Park District. Although it was raining we had a lot of fun doing it. There was 507 runners this year. I thought I might see you there Tim. Just click on the image to see it in a larger view.

Retirement!!!
I just want to tell everyone that Luann and I are retiring from the shop! Crystal is going to take over for both of us and work here full time. She told everyone at Nussbaum's yesterday and we told our employees. She will probably stay at Nussbaum's at least thru the end of the month. She will have been there 3 years. We are looking forward to her ability with computers to help with the things that I am too old to learn. We are also starting a web site that she will maintain. I am looking forward to spending more time helping Becky, Betsy, and Beth with my grandkids. I also want to spend more time with Mom and Mom B. And of course my house needs attention, closets, drawers, etc. I have been working here for 31 years and while I will miss it, it will be great to be able to do some other things.

Disaster
Today I decided to make Grandma's almond crescent cookies from the Cooking on the Prairie cookbook. The first ingredient is 1 cup shortening half butter. Having no idea what that means, I flipped the page and saw another recipe that said shortening or margarine or butter. So I just used 1 cup of butter. I hand rolled the dough "pencil thin" and made the crescents. They turned out looking like sickly shrimp. They were a little brown too. I drenched them in powdered sugar and they tasted ok. But, Zion, my sweet tooth, threw his at me after the first bite.
I will just have to try again another time. :(
Eldon, I have a website all ready for you. I just need pictures to fill it.

And so it begins...
Hello all,
It's been a while since I've written on the blog. Ty & I are pretty settled in our new home in Eureka. It's not Denver, but it is great being close to family! We are excited and looking forward to adding a little Sauder to our home around August 29th this year! Yes, Grandma Connie... that means another trip to Illinois to love all over another baby :) Can't wait for the babe to meet the great family he's already blessed with! We are heading out to some friends for the eve and Ty is telling me it's time to go. Love you all & looking forward to seeing everyone at David & Tara's wedding!
Have a great day!

Long time no post
Some of you might know that Sarah Palin is coming to Washington Five Points in April. Sue and Kristy's business, Create A Scene, will be doing the decorating for the event. This will include 50 table centerpieces for the banquet and stage decorations in the auditorium where her speech will be. Sue's schedule seems to be filling up fast.
As for me, I'm still doing photography. I seem to get busier every year. I shot all the way into December this year and was hoping to have a web site by this winter but that hasn't happened yet. Now that Christmas is over I could use some warmer weather but the snow and ice of last week did make for a great photo opportunity.

Mike and Faye
Happy Anniversary!! It was a lot warmer 26 years ago when we were in Florida than it is now.
The snow is pretty but it sure is cold. We are looking forward to seeing you next week, Faye. Mike, it is too bad you can't come and freeze with the rest of us! We are also missing Dad today.
We hope your Dad is feeling better, Faye.
Love,
Eileen

Happy New Year
Dear Family,
Wishing you a Blessed New Year. May you all continue to have work. We have been very lucky to all have work. It was great being with the part of the family that was at Ty and Beths. Thanks again for having us. I so enjoy getting together with my family. I guess the next time will be for Tara and David's wedding.
The time gets long and sometimes lonely. Dad would so love all his greatgrandchildren. He would love all the busy little children and the funny things they do like keys and cake.
It is very cold and supposed to be for the next few days. Tara and David it is too bad you have to come back but that is the way life is. My love to all. Mom
